Computer health
Your computer’s health is most important because if it not working well then you find it slow and occasionally slow indeed. Programs and files will take longer to open and not to mention if you have a virus or spyware.
What should you do, to keep your computer running and happy? So you don’t see the egg timer working away, and you having to wait when you open a program or files. What you need to do regularly is defrag your computer. By doing this your computer will become faster and will prevent it from crashing. You can either use the defrag program within Microsoft windows, all the versions of windows have the defrag program, or you can buy one. The one in Microsoft windows, you’ll find it by clicking start, programs, accessories, system tool's disk defragmenter and run the program.
How long will it take to defrag your computer? It all depends on how severe your computer is fragmented and how big the hard drive is. The bigger the Hard drive and more fragmented it is the longer it will take. It may take an hour to may be a day for the defrag program to finish. Run the program either once a week or once a month, the more you run it the quicker it will be as it will have least work to do.
Running the defrag program will put the files back in order on your hard drive. As you use programs and files on your computer, opening them, closing them down, only to reopen them. This fragments the files on the hard drive, so taking the computer longer to find the files before it can open them. It might only seem a few seconds and not noticing it but overtime this will become longer. Opening and closing makes the file become fragmented and becoming increasingly slower.
It’s also important to run your computer for viruses and spyware too, as this too can slow down your computer. Scan your computer regularly, most Antivirus software will run automatically on a set day and time, so leaving you to get on with using your computer.
A health computer is a happy computer and if the computer is happy then it will run better and faster. Opening files faster, so you’ll be happy, as you won’t have to wait.
Take care and have fun.

You're a friend in RedGage and I followed your article here. My name is "lensbaby" over there.
Great article!
i frequenly defrag my harddisk for better performane.
Can i defrag my computer and be online at the same time?
@Chelo it's better to run defrag when nothing else is running, if you do it say every week it doesn't take long
Well i don't give a lot for anti virus programmers i believe they create more and more viruses just so you buy the latest offerings. I would rather have everything saved to disc and return to factory settings when i need to.
Lxdollarsxl You are so right, I've often thought that myself, it's strange really because as soon as a new virus is around they have the answer, costing you more money
Nice and informative hub Kev. I'm glad I took out the time to read this, because it reminded me that I need to run my defrag program on my computer. It's been awhile since I done it, and my computer has been moving slowly lately. Thanks for sharing this information Kev! Liked on Facebook, and Tweeted.
